Winter Activity Guide

Winter in Coral Island has 25 available crops — significantly fewer than other seasons. However, winter is far from dead time. A well-planned winter sets up your entire spring economy.

Winter farming:

• Snowdrop is the best winter crop. With limited competition, Snowdrop + honey houses is the most stable winter income source.
• Sapling crops (Apple, Cherry, Apricot, Pear, Peach, Orange) continue producing in winter if mature. These are your passive income source.
• Winter crops are fewer and generally lower value than other seasons. Don't expect to match summer or fall income from raw crops alone.

Processing backlog — the real winter income:

Winter is when your processing infrastructure pays off. If you built kegs, jars, honey houses, and aging barrels during summer and fall, winter is when they work through your backlog:

• Age wine from fall grape harvests
• Age honey from fall Fairy Rose harvests
• Process remaining crop stocks through kegs and jars
• The aging barrel's long processing time means goods started in fall finish during winter — perfectly timed for winter income

Mining:

• With farming demand reduced, winter is the ideal time to mine.
• Focus on gathering ores for tool upgrades planned for spring.
• Deeper cave floors become more accessible with upgraded mining tools.
• Collect gems for spring Lake Temple offerings.

Diving and ocean restoration:

• Continue healing coral sites to push Town Rank.
• Collect deeper-tier kelp (Silver at 20m, Gold at 40m+) for tool upgrades.
• Underwater creatures are still catchable — complete museum donations.
• The ocean mine (unlocked through restoration) provides additional mining resources.

Fishing:

• Winter has unique fish species not available in other seasons.
• Use the Fish Finder tool to see what is catchable in winter conditions.
• Ice fishing spots may be available depending on weather.
• Legendary fish like Hammerhead Shark are available in winter (days 8-21, rain/storm, ocean lookout).

Social activities:

• Winter festivals provide gifting and relationship opportunities.
• Use the slower farming pace to build relationships with residents.
• Catch up on heart events for romance candidates.
• Prepare gifts for spring birthdays.

Infrastructure preparation for spring:

• Build additional kegs, jars, and honey houses for the spring rush.
• Craft sprinklers using Silver Kelp from diving.
• Plan your spring crop layout — designate zones for Strawberry, Cauliflower, and processing crops.
• Stockpile fertilizer and compost.
• Upgrade tools during winter when you don't need them for daily farming.

The key insight: winter income comes from processing, not growing. Players who invested in artisan infrastructure during summer and fall will have a productive winter. Players who only sold raw crops will find winter financially tight. Always plan ahead — your winter economy is determined by decisions made in summer and fall.
