Town Rank Progression Guide

Town Rank is the central progression metric in Coral Island. Advancing through ranks unlocks new crops, seeds, tools, buildings, and story content.

Rank tiers and thresholds:

• Rank F: Starting rank. Basic crops and tools available.
• Rank E: Unlocks additional seeds and basic recipes.
• Rank D: Unlocks Pineapple seeds (the key first-year summer crop). Also unlocks additional farm buildings.
• Rank C: Unlocks Strawberry seeds (top spring crop), Fairy Rose seeds (top fall crop), and advanced crafting recipes. This is the critical rank for year-one profitability.
• Rank B: Unlocks Cactus seeds (the late-game profit ceiling crop), greenhouse, and advanced building options.
• Rank A: Unlocks further content, decorations, and farm expansion options.
• Rank S: Unlocks scenic spot construction (requires cloth from Loom, amaranth flour from Mill) and the full end-game content.

How to increase Town Rank:

1. Ocean restoration: Healing coral sites is the fastest single source of town rank points. Each healed coral site contributes significantly.
2. Lake Temple offerings: Donating items to the Lake Temple in categorized bundles (crops, fish, forage, gems, etc.) provides large rank boosts.
3. Museum donations: Donating fish, insects, artifacts, and minerals to the museum contributes to rank.
4. Community projects: Contributing to town improvement projects.
5. Festival participation: Participating in seasonal festivals.

Strategic rank progression for Year 1:

• Spring: Focus on healing coral sites (fastest rank source) and basic farming. Aim for Rank D by end of spring.
• Summer: With Pineapple unlocked at Rank D, focus on juice processing income. Donate to Lake Temple. Target Rank C by mid-summer.
• Fall: With Strawberry and Fairy Rose unlocked at Rank C, plant Fairy Rose for honey income. Push for Rank B by end of fall if possible.
• Winter: Use the farming downtime to dive, mine, and complete Lake Temple offerings. Push for Rank B if not yet reached.

What each rank unlocks for your economy:

• Rank D → Pineapple: Enables the Pineapple → Juice chain, the best Year 1 summer strategy
• Rank C → Strawberry + Fairy Rose: Enables the two highest-profit seasonal crops for spring and fall
• Rank B → Cactus + Greenhouse: Enables year-round growing of the profit-ceiling crop and the Cactus → Honey → Mead chain

The rank progression system means that rushing Town Rank C is the single most impactful goal for Year 1. Everything before Rank C is preparation; everything after is optimisation.
