Fishing in Coral Island uses four key filters plus rarity. Understanding these filters is essential for targeted catching and completing the Lake Temple offering.

The four catch filters:

  1. Season — Each fish appears in specific seasons. Some are year-round (any season). The catalog records exact seasonal availability for all 69 species. Fish that appear in multiple seasons are catchable in each listed season.
  2. Weather — Fish are split into fair-weather and any-weather categories. Some rare fish only appear during rain or storms. The weather filter on the Fish Finder lets you see what is currently catchable based on in-game conditions.
  3. Time of day — Fish are categorised by time slot: Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night, or Any time. Some fish have split availability (e.g., surface-only in morning/afternoon, but all-day in deeper zones). Plan fishing trips around the time window of your target species.
  4. Location — Fish are found in distinct water bodies:
  • Forest (river and ocean)
  • Farm (river)
  • Town (river)
  • Lake
  • Pond
  • Beach/Ocean
  • Lookout (ocean)
  • Pier/Dock (ocean)
  • Estuary (where river meets ocean)
  • Cave entrance
  • Deep Forest (unlocked through ocean restoration)
  • Savannah (unlocked through story progression)
  • Water Mine (underwater mine, specific seasons)

Rarity tiers:

  • Common — Easy to find, low sell price
  • Uncommon — Moderate rarity, decent sell price
  • Rare — Specific conditions required, good sell price
  • Legendary — The most elusive fish. Includes Great White Shark (Summer 1-14, sunny/windy, ocean/pier), Hammerhead Shark (Fall/Winter 8-21, rain/storm, ocean/lookout), and other large predators. These require high fishing skill and specific conditions.

Notable fish and their conditions:

  • Angelfish: Morning/afternoon, any weather, Forest — all seasons
  • Catfish: Evening/night, rain/storm, rice field/pond/forest river — spring and summer
  • Great White Shark: Morning/afternoon, sunny/windy, ocean pier/Zara's boat — summer days 1-14 only
  • Hammerhead Shark: Morning/evening/night, rain/storm/snow, ocean lookout — fall/winter days 8-21
  • Jellyfish: Evening/night, sunny/windy, ocean beach — spring only
  • Giant Snakehead: Morning/evening/night, sunny/windy, forest/town river — summer and fall
  • Crocodile: Morning/afternoon, rain/storm, forest river/lake — spring only

Tool upgrades for fishing:

Fishing rod upgrades require kelp essence from diving:

  • Bronze: 2,000g + 5 Bronze Kelp Essence + 20 Wood (2 days)
  • Silver: 5,000g + 5 Silver Kelp Essence + 20 Wood (2 days)
  • Gold: 10,000g + 5 Gold Kelp Essence + 5 Hardwood (2 days)
  • Osmium: 15,000g + 5 Osmium Kelp + 20 Hardwood (4 days)

Higher-tier rods increase catch quality and reduce fish escape chance. Silver Kelp is found at 20m depth underwater and is essential for the Silver rod upgrade, which is the most impactful early-game fishing improvement.

Use the Fish Finder tool on this site to filter all 69 fish by any combination of season, weather, time, location, and rarity. Results link directly to the full fish record with source labels and last-checked dates.
